Recording a Decision, Its Reasons, and a Review Point
Turn discussion into a clear conclusion and record when to reassess it.
Confirm a decision
Only the designated decision maker or an administrator can set a page to Decided. A conclusion and at least one sentence of reasoning are required.
Useful reasons
Explain which success conditions the choice protects, which costs it accepts, and why the main alternative was set aside. Record more than agreement alone.
Open questions
List issues that do not block the current choice but need observation, assigning an owner to each. They can remain open when the page is completed.
Set a review
Use a date or a trigger, such as more than one hundred paying customers or an error rate above one percent for two weeks. Once triggered, the page returns to the pending list.
Change a decided page
Add factual updates to the body as needed. Changing the conclusion requires a new version and a reason. Earlier versions remain available.
