Managing Input Windows, Deadlines, and Late Feedback
Set reasonable asynchronous input windows and handle new information clearly after a deadline.
Choose a window
Small reversible decisions typically need twenty four to forty eight hours. Cross department or high risk decisions need longer. Include at least one full working day for every participant.
Adjust after publishing
Owners can extend deadlines, recording the reason. Participants are notified and history is retained.
After the deadline
The page stays open. Ordinary reminders stop and new comments are marked. The decision maker can:
- Make a decision.
- Request additional input from a particular member.
- Extend the deadline.
- Move the issue into a live discussion.
Important late evidence
Reopen input when new evidence could change the outcome. The original deadline and reopening reason remain visible.
Avoid endless discussion
Every extension should identify missing information. A general desire for more readers is rarely enough.
